Shane McCarthy presently resides in Perth, Western Australia (a city so isolated it’s basically Tatooine).
Shane is a freelance writer whose work has been published internationally by, amongst others, DC Comics, Marvel Comics and IDW. Over the years he has written BATMAN LEGENDS OF THE DARK KNIGHT, DETECTIVE COMICS (starring Batman), STAR WARS, DEADPOOL TEAM UP and TRANSFORMERS: ALL HAIL MEGATRON to name a few.
Shane was the first Australian to write Batman for DC Comics (which is a bit weird) and he also created the Transformer “Drift” that has gone on to appear in films, cartoons, toys and even a McDonalds Happy Meal (inarguably a career highlight and is also pretty weird).
Shane has been writing comics since first “breaking in” to the industry in 2003, occasionally taking hiatuses due to his international dancing career (yep, that’s a real thing). Shane’s 20 year dancing career had him teaching workshops all over the world, at one point forcing him to write a Deadpool comic in-between teaching classes at a dance camp in the Swedish forest (that’s a real sentence).
Currently Shane continues to write comics and, having retired from dancing, works several days a week at a hospital helping to rehab patients.
